Diving Rings

I am getting married in THREE WEEKS FROM TODAY! YAY! We decided it would be best not to wear our diamond rings when we dive, so my fiance (always the romantic) suggested we get simple bands to wear when we dive. But he insisted we have them before the wedding, so they can "be there" at the ceremony. So he will have them in his pocket while we say our "I Do's".

My Quacker

I got a new toy today! Ok so my fiance likes to buy us all these scuba toys and usually I am not very excited about it. But this time, I am EXCITED!! Its a quacker- at least thats what we call it... It attaches to my BC and makes a quacking sound when I hit the button. Its used incase I need to get my fiance's attention. The ability to do this gives me great comfort. Several times, I got my fins caught in kelp and I was worried he wouldnt realize it and he'd swim away. Now I can quack at him. Its funny because I told him I can bitch at him underwater... shake my finger and 'quack, quack, quack' ... he cant even escape it under the sea! You gotta love it!

Going for Advanced

Sunday is the day! I am getting my Advanced certification.... I have 3 more dives to do that day... the deep dive to 100 feet, peak buoyancy control and then naturalist. The 1st and 3rd dive sound fun- but the peak buoyancy is the one I am worried about. As it is now I have a hard time floating at a determined level... I go up when I breathe and crash down when I exhale. So this should be interesting to say the least!!

A new love- September 2008

When a love is new, its like the best thing ever! Thats how I feel about diving, which is really odd because I was so scared of it before I did it. The thought of diving deep in the ocean really freaked me out- not knowing what was under me, not having any sort of control- just being out of my element- did not appeal to me in the slightest. Luckily for me, I met and fell in love with the man I am about to marry and he persuaded me to try diving (and bribed me with tons of new scuba gear!). Once I did it, I was in love. I mean head over heals, cant live without it, love. Its only been a few weeks since I became certified, but I still think about it everyday. I look at the pictures I have of my dives, and daydream about going back. I wanted to make this blog so I had a place to save some of my favorite pictures- and also some of my exciting experiences under the sea! My next dive is planned for early October... and I CANT WAIT!
